Thor Travel is always my first choice for a small-group escorted tour. Tashi and her team put together tours where visiting the must-see places are complemented by visiting fascinating out-of-the-way places. Every aspect of these tours is organised, making them totally enjoyable with no possibility of having to deal with unexpected events. Spending money for personal items and souvenirs is all you will have to organise for yourself.
Tashi and her team are also experts in putting together any individual tour for a client. My experience was a 12-day trek in Nepal – a never to be forgotten experience recommended by Tashi.

In my 20 years of buying annual international flights with Thor Travel, no other flight agency or online ticket purchase compares to their pre-sales, post-sales, and mid-trip service. Thor know all the right rules, paperwork, forms, and clearances you need to travel safely and efficiently. Once, my friend bought an online ticket to travel with me (while I travelled through Thor) and visa restrictions changed. Thank God Sandra sent me an email and was available by phone to sort out the necessary paperwork!
Next time, my friend booked through Thor! Also, in cases of EMERGENCY, you will wish you booked with an agency like Thor, because they are always ready to go above and beyond to help you wherever you are. Also, when you call them, a human picks up the phone. I always price check with other flight agencies and Thor’s transits and flight options are always the best that are available. Last year, my partner went to a different travel agency “because it was closer”. They gave him a 25-hour stopover in Perth by accident!! When I went to price check with Thor Travel, Sandra picked up on this error immediately and found a cheaper AND more comfortable flight option WITH shorter transits!
Now, my partner always buys through Thor Travel too. Also, many years ago when my friend suddenly passed away, Tashi stayed in the office until after hours just to get EMERGENCY flights home to be with the family. I’ll never forget this and I’ve never found this kind of service elsewhere. Buying directly online simply does not give you this kind of service and assurance. If you are travelling, GO WITH THOR TRAVEL.
My relationship with Thor Travel goes back nearly 25 years and the agency has never failed to deliver. Whether assisting in the planning of our own trips, or participating in one of Thor Travels much acclaimed escorted tours, the service has always been of the highest professional standard. My late husband and I had many memorable holidays in exotic and fascinating places, every trip enhanced by Tashi and/Sandra’s excellent local knowledge and personal contacts.
However, the real test of a top rate travel agency, is how it responds when things go wrong. Thor is in a class of its own in such circumstances and certainly proves the point that it pays to give your custom to such an accomplished team. We had our share of upsets, such as last minute cancellation for medical reasons, and Thor took all the stress from us by negotiating with the insurance company at a time when we were quite overwhelmed.
I can’t recommend this company highly enough, and, if you’re contemplating an escorted journey, you will experience 5 star care and service from beginning to end. Thank you all.

Thor Travel Adelaide has been my travel agent since 2001. I have utilized their skills and expertise to help plan and organize my travels, including tours with other companies. Having Thor manage the myriad details of organizing trips means a hassle-free holiday. However, it is their specialty of fully escorted tours that originally brought me to Thor and has kept me going back for some twenty-five years. My first escorted tour was in 2001 to Tibet, the original home of Thor Founder and Managing Director, Tashi Lachman. Speaking Tibetan, Mandarin and English, Tashi led the tour and we were immersed in the real culture and history of this small country in the foothills of the Himalayas. It was a mixture of camping, guest houses and modest hotels plus wonderful Asian cuisine (except the yak butter tea).
So began my semi-regular escorted tours with Thor to countries including the Kingdom of Bhutan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Morocco and Turkiye. Whilst the tour accommodation has changed from camping to well-presented and high-level hotels, the emphasis for all escorted tours has been to have a varied and interesting itinerary, the services of knowledgeable local tour guides and to venture, as much as possible, away from well-trodden tourist routes. Tashi, and husband, Chris, are there to make those instant decisions that are necessary to ensure a smooth tour, and also to share the exploring and hospitality which are among the very reasons for the tour itself.
Whilst I live in Sydney and the Thor Travel office is in Adelaide, communication with the office is efficient. Emails and enquiries are responded to quickly and if a particular Agent is not available to speak on the phone, the call is returned as soon as practicable.
I recommend Thor Travel as an extremely trustworthy and knowledgeable organization to help bring your travel dreams and plans to reality.

Efficiency is prominent in all planning with immediate answers being forthcoming to my many questions.
Of great importance to me is the gaining of visas. I had had the trauma of obtaining my own for many trips overseas and encountered difficulties along the way. Thor does my visas now.
Being a senior citizen I enjoy the care and companionship I have encountered at each trip.
Every element of the trip is fully organised creating the security of safety and reliability at every stop during the trip.
