Founder Story
Tashi Lachman is the Managing Director of Thor Travel and the heart and soul of the company, widely respected within the Adelaide travel community. Known for her warmth, empathy and genuine care for her clients and team, she has built Thor Travel from the ground up into a business where every traveller is treated like family. Tashi also escorts group journeys around the world, bringing extensive experience, calm leadership and a lifelong passion for meaningful travel, across countless destinations too numerous to list.
Born as a Tibetan refugee in a small town in the foothills of the Himalayas, Tashi grew up with walking as a way of life and travel as a constant dream. Fascinated by the wider world from an early age, she saved her pocket money at just eight years old to buy her first suitcase, packing it daily in anticipation of future adventures. In creating Thor Travel in 1988 after emigrating to Australia, Tashi set out to build a business grounded in care, trust and shared passion for travel. Her vision has always been to inspire travellers through both experience and personal connection, while fostering a team united by knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine service.
Tashi has a strong love of arts and crafts, and her office reflects this beautifully—filled with unique and striking artefacts collected from her travels around the world, each piece telling its own story. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, cooking her famous ‘Momos’ and is often known for her signature homemade chilli.
For Tashi, travel is not just a profession but a lifelong passion, and she continues to share that spirit through every journey she leads.
